Elijah Monsivais, MA, LPC

Elijah (he) is a Licensed Professional Counselor who has over 13 years of experience in the mental health field and has been a fully licensed counselor since 2018.  He received his Master’s degree from the Texas A&M in San Antonio in 2015.  He also attended the University of Maryland University College Europe Region while overseas.   Elijah is a multi-ethnic military brat/third culture kid, who grew up in Germany, Alaska, Italy, Texas and Virginia. He has spoken seven languages throughout his lifetime and currently speaks English, German, Spanish and some Italian. 

His main approach to providing therapy is Narrative and Existential while incorporating Cognitive Behavioral Techniques, as needed.  Elijah likes to help people heal and rewrite their lived experiences to bring them a new view of life. He is excited to work with people from all backgrounds and life experiences.  He likes to create a relaxed therapeutic atmosphere where people can build on their strengths, seek direction, and start the healing process.  Elijah is also versed in holistic, universal, spiritual, and meta-physical approaches.

 

Elijah has experience working with people who are neurodiverse, gender diverse, and/or are part of the LGBTQ+ community. He has worked with people from as young as 3 years old to older adults in acute settings, community based in-home settings, and in private practice.  He has received training in completing assessments to provide referral letters/letters of support to trans and gender diverse individuals seeking gender affirming care.
 

Elijah has experience in providing child and family therapy. He enjoys helping families understand each other better to establish a new, more cohesive unit. Having had experience in child-care and running summer camps for the overseas military communities and substitute teaching in Texas, he has a joy of helping kids and young adults advocate for themselves and navigate their relationships.  He is happy to be offering Telemental Health (TMH) support to individuals and families in the afternoons, evenings, and weekends to accommodate students and people working during the day.
 

Elijah is part of the LGBTQ+ community and has always had a strong desire to empower LGBTQ+ youth. He has roots and experience in community organizing ranging from aiding and hosting cultural events to planning local community advocacy efforts. In addition, he is a former parkour athlete, where he also aided in organizing the sports community. 

Elijah is in network with Aetna, Blue Cross/Blue Shield PPO, and Optum/United.
