Ethan Cohn, MS, LMFT-A

Ethan (he/him) holds a Bachelor of Arts from New York University and a Master of Science from the highly selective program at California State University, Los Angeles where he graduated magna cum laude.

Ethan helps people shift from a position of fear to one of empowerment.  He uses an active and collaborative approach to help his clients navigate transitions, anxiety, depression, and relationships.  By providing direct feedback and guidance, he assists people in stripping away layers that may not feel authentic and get in touch with their truer selves.

In working with couples, Ethan uses evidence-based practices that he acquired upon completing the Clinical Foundations in Gottman Method Couples Therapy.  He has focused his clinical skills by implementation of Treating Affairs and Trauma, the research-based Gottman Method approach to unbiasedly working with couples impacted by affairs and trauma.  Ethan is approved by The Gottman Institute for clinical use of The Gottman Relationship Checkup.

After spending years as a crisis counselor specializing in suicide prevention at the renowned Didi Hirsch Center in Culver City, California, Ethan began doing family and couples therapy at The Family Counseling Lab in East Los Angeles.  He went on to work with highly gifted adolescents, ages 11 to 16, who were receiving their bachelor’s degrees as part of The Early Entrance Program at Cal State, LA.  During that time, Ethan co-developed a weekly group for housing unstable LGBTQI+ youth for The Penny Lane Center.  Ethan is a member of the Texas Associate for Marriage and Family Therapy and the San Antonio Association of Relational Therapists.

Ethan is thrilled to be a part of Synchronicity Counseling and to work with individuals, couples, and families using the gender affirmative model.  In his spare time, Ethan enjoys theater, board games, working out at the boxing studio, and exploring beautiful San Antonio.
